Trans Income Project

A group of trans women who are working to offer cash assistance, guaranteed income, and free STI testing to trans women. They also engage in advocacy efforts in policy change, sex worker protections, and and support in training other interested organizers.

Trans Empowerment Project

TEP supports trans people directly, especially disabled queer and trans people of color. The programs provided include: emergency food and toiletry packages (provided through Instacart, Shipt, or Hello Fresh and paid for by TEP), gender affirming clothing packages, HRT assistance, employment assistance, inmate services (including commissary assistance, gender-affirming clothing packages and pen-pals for trans inmates), and emergency transport for those in unsafe housing situations.) Serves ALL parishes but is located in New Orleans. 24 Hour Crisis Line for shelter/resources 504-866-9554 – Comprehensive free one-stop center for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and their children. Shelter has private rooms/studios for survivors and their families actively fleeing violence. All services provided in both English and Spanish or will secure interpretation. Services include: Trauma counseling and groups, wellness supports, temporary safe space/shelter, legal consult, restraining orders, custody, housing consult, case management, and social and health care services. Hospital medical advocacy for survivors, HOPE Clinic partners with the NOFJC to provide forensic exams and medical care to survivors who don?t feel comfortable going to a hospital. Counseling often has a two month waitlist but if a person is in a lethal, dangerous position, can be moved up and seen more immediately.

Adult Education (GED) Program at Delgado Community College

Structured classes in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings, at sites throughout New Orleans that are flexible in finding a class schedule that meet a student’s availability. Students are welcomed and encouraged to stay in the program as long as needed. We also offer unique opportunities for students to begin college level classes at Delgado as they finish earning a GED.
